In Christ, our "works," if you will, are derived from an inward change. When we are born again, we have a new spirit, and consequently, a new nature. It is a love nature from God that is in opposition to the world's way of operating. Thus, the fruit in our life is something that is simply a part of us. Just as a dog barks, a cat meows, Christians love. In Christ, "the law," so to speak, is not outward, as with the covenant that God made with Moses. In Christ, "the law" is written on our hearts.
