I wish to be closer to God. I need your help.

Dear " ",

The scriptures say: James 4:8-  "Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you." If we draw close to God in our hearts, He also will draw near to us. Again Jesus said: Luke 11:9-  "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." So then, Jesus makes us a "promise" that if we seek Him we "will" find Him, if we knock it "shall" be opened for us. However, it is much more than that. God desires to fellowship with us as well. Jesus said: Revelation 3:20- "Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me." Jesus wants to come in and fellowship with us. He stands at the door of our hearts and knocks.

The problem is that sin separates us from God. However, lucky for us, God has made a way for us through the cross. No one can come unto the Father except it is through the cross (John 14:6, John 6:53). Here is a link that I have provided to help you understand the cross.

Some of the ways that we can seek after God, or be closer to God as you put it, are: seeking Him through His Word (I recommend starting with the book of John), seeking Him through prayer, and seeking Him through fellowship with other believers ( I recommend attending an evangelical church fellowship or Bible study group).

I hope this answer gives you a place to start in your journey towards closeness with God!

I'm sorry to tell you, but the bible has been proved wrong numerous times! Telling people that they will go to hell if they don't believe will not help! Even if you say you believe this is useless if your mind tells you otherwise, hence it's a no brainer!

Dear valuable Darwinsgift,

Fortunately, I serve a real Jesus who confirms His Word "through the Holy Spirit." If my argument were dependent "only" upon rationale, if it were dependent only upon the mind, then it would be lacking the power, strength, weight that it current possesses "through the Spirit," a power that has truly changed, and it still changing, our world. Darwinsgift, I challenge you to pray and ask God "sincerely," humbly, and with all of your heart to "please confirm the message of Jesus Christ (that He was and is God's only Son, that He died in our place for our sins, and that He was raised from the dead) through the Holy Ghost. If you do that, sincerely, God "will" answer. But if you are content with your pride you will never know.

Luke 11:9  And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

In Christ Jesus,

Aric Thorpe
